If you want to know how to calculate CGPA in easy steps, then read the blog.
If you are a Savitribai Phule Pune University student searching for a detailed process to calculate CGPA, this blog is for you.
To calculate the CGPA, you need to know the grade score you have secured in all the subjects you have registered for and the credit score assigned to each of the subjects.
The Methods to Calculate CGPA in SPPU
The formula to calculate CGPA is to divide the total grade score multiplied by the credit score of the subjects by the total credit scores. For example, if C is the credit score and GPA is the average grade point you obtained, your CGPA will be a total of (GPA*C) divided by a total of C.
For example, if you have registered for five subjects in SPPU, English, Philosophy, History, Political Science, and Economics, they all have a distinct credit score. If we suppose that the grade scores for English, Philosophy, History, Political Science, and Economics are 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2, then the total credit scores will be (6+5+4+3+2)=20.
Suppose you have a grade A in English, Philosophy, History and a grade B in Political Science and Economics. If Grade A denotes a score of 8 and grade B denotes a score of 6, then your grade score in English, Philosophy, History is 8, and your grade in Political Science and Economics is 6.

Now, we have to calculate the GPA in each subject. For that, we have to multiply the Grade score obtained by you in each of them with their credit scores.
Let us calculate.
English: Your grade score is 8, and your credit score is 6. So, the GPA is (8*6)=48
Philosophy: Your grade score is 8, and your credit score is 5. So, the GPA is (8*5)=40
History: the grade score is 8, and the credit score is 4. So the grade score is (8*4)=32.
Political Science: Grade score is 6, and the credit score is 3, and the GPA is (6*3)=18
Economics: Grade score is 6, and the credit score is 2, and the GPA is (6*2)=12
Now, we have to calculate the total GPAs. Add all of them, and the sum will be (48+40+32+18+12)= 150.
To calculate CGPA, just divide the sum of GPAs by the total credit score of the subjects.
So, your CGPA is (150/20) = 7.5
150 is the total GPA here, and C is the total credit score of the subjects.
I have inserted a table for your better understanding.
Name of the Subjects | C or the credit score | Grade Score | GPA |
English | 6 | 8 | (6*8)=48 |
Philosophy | 5 | 8 | (5*8)=40 |
History | 4 | 8 | (4*8)=32 |
Political Science | 3 | 6 | (3*6)=18 |
Economics | 2 | 6 | (2*6)=12 |
So, the total credit score will be the total value of the credit scores assigned to the subjects. That is the addition of 6 for English, 5 for Philosophy, 4 for History, 3 for Political Science, and 2 for Economics. Thus, the sum is (6+5+4+3+2)=20.
The total GPA will be (48+40+32+18+12)= 150
So, your CGPA is the total GPA value divided by the total credit score that means total GPA / total C.
The CGPA is (150/20)= 7.5
These are the easy steps that you have to follow to calculate your CGPA in SPPU.
