DBSE Board: When was the Board Launched?

With the motive of providing the students who seek education, the government of Delhi has initiated a new board of education in Delhi. Just like the other states have their respective State Boards of Education, Delhi will have the DBSE, i.e., Delhi Board of School Education.

A segregated school board for almost 2,700 schools in Delhi was authorized by the Delhi government on March 6, 2021.

DBSE Board Affiliated Schools

A press conference by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal revealed that the Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) will initially be affiliated with 21-22 state government schools and that all schools will be decided to bring under it within the upcoming four-five years.

One thousand government schools as well as 1,700 private, most of them CBSE-affiliated schools operate in Delhi.

At the second General Body discussion of DBSE and SoSE, which was presided over by Sisodia, the choices were made.

Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister announced on Tuesday that the recently created Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) will ally 30 government schools from the 2021-22 academic session.

The government will release 20 Schools of Specialized Excellence (SoSE) by August 15, said Sisodia who often retains the education portfolio.

Student interest in STEM, Performing and Visual Arts, Humanities, and 21st Century Skills will be catered to in these schools. 20 SoSEs during the first phase will be 8 STEM-focused, 5 for Humanities and 21st Century Skills-focused, and 2 Visual Arts-focused schools,” he explained further. « Students at SoSEs will get excellent opportunities to learn in their field of interest, which will encourage them to attend some of the top universities and institutions in the country and overseas.

DBSE Board Regulatory Body

Mr Kejriwal said that the new Board will have a regulatory body led by the Education Minister of the Delhi government, and an upper house headed by a chief executive officer.

The regulatory body will ensure the proper functioning of the board as well as the schools affiliated with the board.

Motive of the DBSE Board

Students who’ve been “fiercely patriotic” and self-reliant will be prepared for service to the country and community, the Chief Minister said.

Best international practices and elevated techniques will be brought in by the Board of Education. He explained that the school will educate students according to their abilities.

Aim of DBSE Board : Implementing Agency for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan

DBSE aims at implementing the motives of one of the best campaigns for better education by the government of India.

Following the 86th amendment to the Indian Constitution, which makes free and compulsory education for children aged 6-14 years a fundamental human right, the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is the Government of India’s program known for achieving Universalization of Elementary Education (UEE) in a time-bound way.

State-sponsored assistance (SSA) is being enacted across the country in partnership with state governments to meet the needs of 192 million children who live in 1.1 million households.

By providing additional classrooms, drinking water, toilets, maintenance grants as well as effective school grants, the program aims to open new schools in areas that do not currently have schooling facilities.

School districts and clusters with insufficient teacher numbers are given additional teachers, and the academic support structures at block, cluster and district levels are reinforced.

And DBSE is one among the educational boards that follow the notion of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.

It’s unlikely that all schools in the capital city will be given under the new education board at once, and private schools would have a choice of where to enroll their children. Hence the new board of the school in Delhi offers complete freedom to students to choose the board of education.
