DU Marking System 2021
Whether it is the regular education at DU or the education system at DU SOL, the university runs two marking schemes. One is based on the semester-based marking scheme that is mainly yearly. The second one is the choice-based credit system that was introduced by the university in the year 2016.
In the case of a semester-based marking scheme, the students have to obtain a 40% score in theory as well as practical papers individual to pass. If an individual fails in any subject, the student has to appear in the exam depending upon the semester in which they have failed. For example, if the student has failed in the exam of 1t semester, then the student has to appear for the examination again only in the months of November-December when actually the exams of 1st, 3rd, and 5th semesters are conducted.
The marking is a bit different in the case of choice-based credits. Students appearing in the odd semester can proceed to the even semester even if the student fails in the exam. Moreover, the students can get promoted to 2nd year from 1st only if the student has acquired 50% mark by combining both 1st and 2nd semesters.
Thus, the students can select from any of the marking systems depending upon the convenience that they have.
