Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are those schools that are set up for brilliant students who reside in the local and rural areas in India. These schools are controlled by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti which is an independent organization and is located in New Delhi under the Department of School Education and Literacy as well as the Ministry of Education and Government of India. These NVS schools are residential and are also Co-Educational schools that are associated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
These schools provide education for students from the 6th grade up to the 12th grade. JNVs are primarily entrusted with identifying exceptional kids in rural parts of India. The Ministry of Education, Government of India, provides funding for schooling, boarding, and recreation at JNVs, which is offered free of charge to students for the duration of their enrollment of seven years. It provides students with an education comparable to the finest residential education structure, regardless of their households’ socioeconomic status.

The (JNVST), a CBSE-designed, created, and administered admissions test, is required for entrance to Class VI of the JNVs. The JNVST for Class VI is held every year across the country to choose the top 80 candidates for each JNV.
It is held in 3 parts per year, based on the organization of the state or union territory’s meeting. Students are only allowed to register for the exam once throughout their Class V year. The truth that in JNVST 2015, a total of 1,878.15 thousand candidates applied and 41.48 thousand were chosen demonstrates the level of intensity in the admissions test (i.e. approx 2 percent pass percentage). The test covers mental abilities, mathematics, and reading comprehension.
The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti provides a variety of events that promote science and encourage students to choose STEM as a career.
Children Science Congresses, involvement in numerous academic contests/challenges/olympiads, visits to research groups, tinkering labs in academies, environmental activities, organising global experience for students, enriched ICT support, and entrepreneurship skill workshops are just a few of the activities that fall under this umbrella.
The yearly Science Conference is held every year in partnership with regional research facilities and government research facilities. Physics exhibits are held at the school, cluster, regional, and national levels.

Rajiv Gandhi, India’s previous Prime Minister, devised the concept for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. The idea of establishing a JNV in each district of India was conceived as a component of the 1986 National Policy on Education, with the intention of delivering brilliance while also ensuring social equality. Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) was eventually incorporated as a firm under the Societies Registration Act of 1860.
One JNV was to be founded in each district of the country, according to federal policy. To begin, two Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas were built in Jhajjar (Haryana) and Amravati in 1985–86. (Maharashtra). JNVs had been approved for 576 districts as of the 2015–16 educational year.
The date of birth of the candidate should be between 1st June 2003 to 31st May 2007 including both dates. This is also applicable for the students belonging to SC and ST.

Benefits of Joining Navodaya Vidyalaya
The education system followed is CBSE, which is widely followed throughout India.
Even though it is a government-affiliated organization the Professors and teachers give attention to every student and all the students are treated equally. The staff is highly qualified and well learned.
The students live in hostels and learn a lot about the world outside their families. They learn to be flexible and learn to adjust to dynamic conditions. They are self-dependent and do not rely on others for their work and commitment.
These schools have a sports hour every single day of the week except for Sunday. This helps the students to remain fit and active and to get involved in extracurricular activities.
With certain special circumstance institutions, a record of 661 functional boarding schools is being granted in 638 districts across India. These are overseen by eight field offices, each of which has authority over a different place or UT.
