Rajasthan Royals is one of the 10 teams that participate in the Indian Premier League organized by the BCCI every year. It is the very first team who won the IPL title of the inaugural season in 2008. The franchise of the Rajasthan Royals is founded by Manoj Badale (65%), RedBird Capital Partners (15%), Lachlan Murdoch (13%). Mike Fordham was designated as a CEO whereas Jake Lush McCrum is the COO of the franchise. Romi Bhinder has the responsibility of seeing the team management and Zubin Bharucha is the development and performance director. Ranjit Barthakur is the chairperson of the RR. Kumar Sangakkara is the head coach of the Rajasthan Royals and Trevor Penney assists him as an assistant coach. Alcis Sports has got the tender for the manufacturing team’s kit whereas the sponsorship of t-shirts is in the hands of Happilo and Samsung. The team plays their home matches at their home ground Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur which can take in 30,000 people.

The team will enter the IPL tournament 2022 under the captaincy of Sanju Samson and the franchise has already kept their main players Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal on the retained list. After winning the first season of the IPL, Rajasthan Royals lost their rhythm of winning after 2008 and are still waiting for their 2nd IPL title. The franchise has released some big names like Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Robin Uthappa, Liam Livingstone, Chris Morris and included Yuzvendra Chahal, Trent Boult, Devdutt Padikkal. Sanju Samson, the skipper of the Rajasthan Royals, is the highest run maker in the last season of IPL 2021 for which he was named for Orange Cap as he made 484 runs with a strike rate of 141.9. Rajasthan Royal will hope to see themselves in the top 4 and wish to compete in the final to register their 2nd IPL title.

Rajasthan Royals had a dark history as they were found guilty in the spot-fixing case in 2016 and that is why they have been banned for 2 years. But they returned in 2018 and performed well as they reached the top 4 positions but could not make a place in the final. Overall, they have played 175 matches in which they got the victory on 84 occasions and lost 86 matches with a 49.42 winning percentage. Ajinkya Rahane is the leading scorer of RR who has made 2,810 runs from 93 innings whereas Trivedi is the highest wicket-taker with 65 wickets in 76 matches. The pair of Ben Stokes and Sanju Samson made the highest partnership of unbeaten 158 runs for Rajasthan Royals. RR Matches 2023: Rajasthan Royals Next Match List

In IPL 2022, Rajasthan Royals will play their first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at MCA Stadium, Pune on 29 March 2022. Rajasthan and Hyderabad have faced each other in the IPL on 15 occasions where RR won 7 matches and SRH won 8 matches. Since 2008, the team has qualified for the playoffs 4 times only and they became champion in 2008 under the captaincy of Shane Warne. Shane Warne, one of the greatest leg spinners the Australian team had, has died on 4th March 2022. He has also been the mentor of the Rajasthan Royals in the previous seasons of IPL.
