West Indies T20 World Cup 2022 Squad, Team, Players List

As of now, the most successful squad of the T20 World Cup holding two World Cup titles, West Indies is all set to enter the T20 World Cup 2023 in Australia and has declared the names of players. Wicketkeeper-batsman, Nicholas Pooran has been given the responsibility of captain, on the other hand, Rovman Powell will perform the job of vice-captain. Powell, Shimron Hetmyer, Brandon King, and Evin Lewis along with two wicketkeeper-batsman will take care of the bowling department whereas the foursome of Sheldon Cottrell, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, and Obed McCoy will handle the bowling department. On the other hand, West Indies has got an abundance of all-rounders in the form of Kyle Mayers, Jason Holder, Odean Smith, Raymon Reifer, and Yannic Cariah.

Only Charles, Lewis, and Holder exist from the 2016 world title team with the latest departures of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine. The West Indies will miss Narine and Russel because no one can take their place on the team. Sunil Narine was the top-class off-breaker and game changer for West Indies whereas Andre Russel is like a one-man army who can take the match in any direction at 3-4 balls. The retirement of Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard will also leave a big impact on them and they have to give an extraordinary performance in order to win the title.

Despite winning the two T20 World Cups in 2012 and 2016, West Indies have to play the qualifier matches with Ireland, Scotland, and Zimbabwe in order to make their place in the super 12. In an attempt to compensate for Russell’s omission, the selectors of Windies added veteran all-rounder Jason Holder and powerful batter Odean Smith.

The T20 World Cup in 2021 was also not very good for the West Indies since they could not make a place in the super 12. Let’s see how Windies players will perform in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 on the bouncy and pace pitches of Australia and how far they will go.
